Enterprises increasingly expose core business services to mobile applications that employees and customers use outside the physical and network perimeter a traditional enterprise security model assumes, a shift that research on zero trust architecture identifies as requiring a fundamentally different security posture than perimeter-based defense (Rose, Borchert, Mitchell, & Connelly, 2020). Three specific, well-documented problems make this shift harder than deploying a zero trust policy alone: mobile applications are a persistently vulnerable attack surface, with empirical analysis finding cryptographic misuse pervasive across widely used Android applications (Egele, Brumley, Fratantonio, & Kruegel, 2013); the authorization protocols mobile applications depend on to reach enterprise APIs carry formally documented flaws that a naive integration can reproduce (Fett, Küsters, & Schmitz, 2016); and the intermittent, often offline connectivity mobile devices operate under is a foundational, decades-old challenge to maintaining a consistent, secure view of enterprise data that has not disappeared with faster networks (Satyanarayanan, 1996). This paper proposes MOSAIC (Mobile-Optimized Secure Application Integration for Cloud), an architecture in which a device-attested authentication layer, a mobile-aware API gateway layer, and a secure offline-sync layer are coordinated by a mobile trust continuity controller that preserves a single, consistent trust state for a mobile session as it moves between connected and disconnected operation, between trusted and anomalous behavior, and between authorized and revoked access. Following a design-science research approach, MOSAIC is illustrated, not empirically validated, through a comparative capability table, an illustrative case scenario, and two illustrative figures, with every quantitative value explicitly labeled as an illustrative estimate rather than measured production data. The paper situates MOSAIC against the literature on zero trust architecture, mobile application security vulnerabilities, authentication protocol security, continuous behavioral authentication, service mesh traffic management, and offline data synchronization.
